Arts Queensland is proud to partner with Queensland's arts sector to support a range of literary awards and initiatives.

Queensland Literary Awards

Administered by the State Library of Queensland, the Queensland Literary Awards celebrate and promote outstanding Australian writers.

In 2015, the Queensland Premier reinstated support for the state's literary awards, taking the prize pool up to $300,000.

Arts Queensland Val Vallis Award for an Unpublished Poem

Named in honour of a distinguished Queensland poet, the Arts Queensland Val Vallis Award for an Unpublished Poem supports the development of new poetry throughout Australia.

Arts Queensland Poet in Residence

The Arts Queensland Poet in Residence Program is designed to develop Queensland's poetry culture by providing a residencey for a high-profile poet or spoken word artist to engage directly with Queensland poets and poetry community in a meaningful and collaborative way.

The program is administered by the Queensland Poetry Festival, with support from the Queensland Writers Centre, Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Art and the Brisbane Writers Festival.
